i hardly know what to say.

spreading freedom and democracy, right?

really, i don't know what to say. there's a lot to be said, but my overwhelming sadness and anger just keep getting in the way.

it's a good question, and obviously impossible to accurately answer from just a news story. i imagine that the horror of war can end up bringing out the more savage and hateful sides of just about anyone, nevermind anyone who was already predisposed to it.

however, i think it's telling that there (allegedly) up to five soldiers involved in the entire crime. that brings up whole other questions of groupthink, peer pressure, etc etc.
