hee.

i saw a woman almost fall down on the El this morning. she was holding onto a bar and everything, but she was with her husband/boyfriend/manperson, and she was standing at an odd angle in order to talk to him. we went around a curve and she went backwards like she was on a surfboard - it was actually kinda miraculous that she didn't end up in the lap of the girl reading the david balducci novel.

i am a bad person, because it took every ounce of willpower i had not to laugh out loud.

When I was a kid growing up, my buddies and I like to "subway surf". This involved riding the T, standing in the center of the car, and maintaining one's balance without aid of handholds. Fun stuff. I was good at it on the orange and red lines, but the green line was another thing entirely.

I definitely would have laughed.
I would have needed to use that willpower to not point.

ooh, the green line is tough for a subway surfer, indeed. you ever stand on those swiveling circles that hinge two sections of a car together? those were nausea-inducing, for sure.
