everything you've ever wanted to know. and more.

a huge hat tip to the dino for finding a website that quite truly makes my whole week. it's only tuesday, but i can pretty much guarantee that right now.

the duggars have a website.

you remember the duggars. the sixteen kids? the violins? the impossibly long female mullets? don't act like their existence didn't invade your consciousness and make you question life, existence, and the basic laws of biology and physics.

oh, that was just me? fine then. regardless, the website is fantastic. a few snippets:

Our prayer is that all who view this site will realize that we are ordinary people with our individual weaknesses and imperfections but yet we serve an extraordinary GOD who delights in demonstrating His great power!

At 9:00a.m., the older children help their buddies with their studies in phonics, math, violin & piano (J-O-Y- Jesus first, Others second, & Yourself last!)

the section in which jim bob and michelle describe their decision to just keep popping them out assembly-line style is also quite interesting. the claim that after they had their first child, michelle duggar was on the pill, yet got pregnant and then has a miscarriage. they say, and i quote, "we did not know that sometimes the pill allows you to get pregnant but then causes a miscarriage." what?? huh?? like i said - basic laws of biology and physics.

the duggars rock my world.

My personal favorite thing about this website is the favorite family links. Listed amongst many Bible type things is "wholesome swimwear". When you visit this site it infroms you that their product is intended to "highlight the face rather than the body." It is virtually an entire jumpsuit type thing or "culottes" as they call it, made out of swimsuit material. Terrifying.

LOL. I can't believe the swimwear exposes the lower leg, how risque! It looks about as comfortable as wearing a smock over a full body wet suit. Personally I think the whole family is a sham put together by an allegiance of Pat Robertson and the RNC. Clearly these people are paid actors.

Holy crap! I haven't had a chance to check the whole thing out, but I am recently obsessed with them! I saw a special on Discovery Health, "14 Kids and Pregnant Again" and was fascinated by how crazy it was. I didn't know their names, (other than jimbob, of course) so I never looked them up! I can't believe it, and I can't wait to read the whole thing.

Kate, you're just jealous and waiting to start your own assembly line...

All these posts to the contrary are just to keep our faith in you while you secretly plot it all out...

I have been writing and commenting about this family for a couple years now. The Duggar's are followers of Bill Gothard, a religious right-wing zealot who has some pretty distorted ideas about scriptures and their interpretations. The "no birth control" issue is coming from Gothard's teachings. Check out his website. http://www.billgothard.com/bill/

The Duggar's are putting themselves out there for all kinds of comments by having the Discovery Channel shows and in Jim Bob's last unsuccessful bid for the senate. They are fodder for any and everyone to talk about.

I believe that having more children than you can take care of (without expecting older kids to raise younger ones) is a selfish and irresponsible lifestyle. This family seems to live a commune style of life that makes me feel sorry for those older kids and makes me loath Jim Bob & Michelle even more. True, there is no rule about limiting the number of kids a family can have, but why continue to breed like animals simply because you can????

I truly get ill when I read things they've been quoted as saying like letting "God" dictate how many kids they'll have. It isn't "God" having sex with Michelle. It's Jim Bob and Jim Bob isn't willing to trust his sex drive to God now is he?

I view Jim Bob as only a notch or two above Rusty Yates who allowed his wife to have more children than she could possibly handle PLUS home school them as well. Anyone remember Andrea Yates? I don't believe Michelle Duggar would ever harm her kids, but the same delusional line of thinking is in play here. I believe faith plays a bigger role when you don't blame or give credit to God for all the decisions you make. Those extreme fundamental Christians give a very bad name to anyone else who claims to be a Christian but is smart enough to realize that God gives you a brain to use--not just lay on a shelf and use God as the reason you did or did not do something.

So, NO, I don't think this family deserves the praise some people are giving them. They have mush for brains as far as I can see.
